Wacker VINNOL E 15/40 A VC/VAc Resin — Hydroxyl-Containing VC/Acrylate Copolymer for Anti-Corrosion Coatings, Printing Inks and Two-Component Crosslinking
Full name and product positioning
Product full name: Wacker VINNOL® E 15/40 A hydroxyl-containing vinyl chloride-acrylate copolymer resin (VC/VAc resin)
Wacker VINNOL® E 15/40 A is a copolymer of vinyl chloride and hydroxy-functional acrylate with free hydroxyl groups (approx. 1.8 wt%); it contains approx. 84 wt% vinyl chloride and approx. 16 wt% acrylate monomers. It is produced by emulsion polymerization and offers good pigment wetting. It can be used as a reactive binder and crosslinked with isocyanates, epoxy or amino resins in solvent-based coatings and printing inks.

Core advantages
· Contains approx. 1.8 wt% free hydroxyl groups and can be crosslinked with isocyanates, epoxy or amino resins to form films
· Emulsion polymerization process gives good pigment wetting and dispersion, suitable for pigmented coating systems
· Good adhesion to substrates such as plastics, metals and wood, helping to improve coating adhesion
· Films have good toughness, water resistance and chemical resistance, and resist aliphatic hydrocarbon media
· Good compatibility with a wide range of coating resins, which facilitates blending and performance adjustment
Main application areas
· Core applications: solvent-based anti-corrosion coatings, plastic / metal / wood coatings, gravure printing inks, pigment preparation, two-component adhesives
· Suitable areas: artificial leather coatings, coil coatings, inkjet printing, magnetic stripe coatings, crosslinkable reactive coating systems
· Not recommended: applications requiring FDA 175.300 food-contact certification; unmodified ambient-drying main film-forming systems for high-weatherability outdoor heavy-duty anti-corrosion service (blending validation required)
