Product full name: Wacker VINNOL® E 15/45 vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer resin (emulsion polymerization type, commonly known as VC/VAc resin)

VINNOL® E 15/45 is a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate binary copolymer produced by Wacker (Germany) using emulsion polymerization. It contains approx. 85 wt% vinyl chloride and approx. 15 wt% vinyl acetate with a K value of approx. 45. Compared with the suspension-polymerized H series, E15/45 provides higher surface energy and a lower water contact angle on many substrate surfaces, together with good pigment wetting. It is used mainly for pigment preparation, solvent-based printing inks and coatings.

Core advantages

· Emulsion polymerization route gives higher film surface energy and a lower water contact angle, with good adhesion to many polar plastic substrates

· Good pigment wetting and dispersion, suitable as a binder for pigment preparations (color chips and pastes) and high-pigment-content inks

· Medium K value and solution viscosity provide a good balance of dissolution and leveling, covering gravure, screen and pad printing processes

· Films have good toughness, abrasion resistance, water resistance and chemical resistance

· Supplied in granular form, generating relatively little dust during feeding and dispersion, which facilitates automated feeding and cleaner production

Main application areas

· Core applications: pigment preparation and color chips, solvent-based gravure printing inks, screen-printing inks, pad-printing inks, inkjet inks, plastic coatings, industrial wood coatings, marine and protective coatings, strippable coatings

· Suitable areas: surface printing and coating of polar plastic films and injection-molded parts such as PET / PVC / PMMA / ABS / PC, metal primers, film lamination, high-pigment paste dispersion

· Not recommended: direct blending with alkyd resins, nitrocellulose, polyvinyl acetate or polyvinyl butyral (generally incompatible); avoid pigments containing zinc, cadmium and iron oxides; avoid direct contact with iron containers to prevent discoloration; long-term outdoor use requires blending with weathering stabilizers
