Product full name: Wacker VINNOL® E15/45M carboxyl-containing vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate terpolymer resin

This grade is a carboxyl-containing vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-dicarboxylic acid terpolymer resin produced by Wacker using emulsion polymerization, with a K value of 44–46, making it a medium-molecular-weight grade. Because of its carboxyl functional groups it adheres well to metals and polar substrates such as polyester and cellophane, and it can be crosslinked with isocyanates, epoxy or amino resins. It is commonly used in metal primers, anti-corrosion coatings, printing inks and heat-seal coating formulations.

Core advantages

· Emulsion process gives good pigment wetting and dispersion, helping improve color development in pigmented systems

· Carboxyl functional groups provide good adhesion to metals and polar substrates such as polyester and cellophane

· Can be crosslinked with isocyanates, epoxy or amino resins, helping improve coating chemical resistance and surface hardness

· Good resistance to oils, greases, dilute acids and alkalis and salt water, suitable for anti-corrosion primer systems

· Fully compatible with other VINNOL® series resins, making it easy to adjust viscosity, drying speed and similar properties

Main application areas

· Core applications: metal anti-corrosion primers, coil coatings, gravure inks, heat-seal coatings, screen / pad-printing inks

· Suitable areas: paper and film coating, inkjet inks, transfer inks, masonry architectural coatings, metal paints

· Not recommended: direct use as a topcoat on unprimed metal; long-term outdoor exposure systems without UV stabilizers; high-temperature processing formulations containing zinc, cadmium or iron oxide pigments
