Product description and parameters

Full name and product positioning Product full name: Wacker VINNOL® P 38 C vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer resin (VC/VAc resin) Wacker VINNOL® P 38 C is a binary copolymer resin of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate (approx. 61 wt% vinyl chloride, 39 wt% vinyl acetate). It is a general-purpose solvent-based binder, used mainly as the binder for surface coatings and printing inks, and can also serve as a modifier for rigid, semi-rigid and flexible PVC. It forms tough films with good chemical resistance and is suitable for industrial protective and corrosion-resistant coating systems. Core technical parameters Parameter Typical value / range Appearance / physical form White granular solid (free-flowing, low-dust granules) Chemical type Vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate (VC/VAc) binary copolymer Vinyl chloride (VC) content Approx. 61 wt% Vinyl acetate (VAc) content Approx. 39 wt% Hydroxyl content — (no hydroxyl groups; to be confirmed) Acid value — (to be confirmed) K value — (to be confirmed) Solution viscosity (20% MEK solution) — (to be confirmed) Glass transition temperature Tg (DSC) — (to be confirmed) Density — (to be confirmed) Solubility Soluble in ketones (e.g. MEK), chlorinated solvents and ester-based solvent blends Thermal stability No significant degradation below approx. 160 °C processing temperature Volatile content — (to be confirmed) Packaging Approx. 20 kg/bag  Core advantages ·   Good chemical resistance to acids, alkalis and aliphatic hydrocarbon media ·   High vinyl acetate content gives good solubility in ketone and ester solvents ·   Good compatibility with plasticizers, stabilizers and fillers, which facilitates formulation design ·   Relatively stable particle size distribution, which helps uniform melting and film formation ·   Can be used in PVC modification as well as in protective coatings, adhesives and many other systems Main application areas ·   Core applications: industrial protective coatings, corrosion-resistant linings for chemical storage tanks and pipes, solvent-based adhesive binders, printing inks ·   Suitable areas: modifiers for rigid / semi-rigid / flexible PVC, sealants and caulking compounds, abrasion- and solvent-resistant inks for flexible packaging ·   Not recommended: applications requiring a food-contact compliance commitment (subject to Wacker's official regulatory documents); not suitable for direct dispersion in waterborne systems
