Cabot EMPEROR 1800 Carbon Black - Waterborne High-Color Furnace Black for OEM Automotive Topcoats
Full Name: EMPEROR 1800 Waterborne Specialty High Color Furnace Black
Modified exclusively for high-end waterborne topcoats with outstanding dispersion performance in aqueous systems, widely adopted raw material for OEM waterborne automotive paints.
Core Standard Specifications
Iodine adsorption value: 290 mg/g
DBP oil absorption value: 70 cc/100g
Primary particle size: 17 nm
Volatile content: 3.2~4.0 %
Residue on 325 mesh: <100 ppm
Form: Fluffy powder
Standard package: 10kg per bag
CAS No.: 1333-86-4
Core Performance Advantages
1. Abundant ionic functional groups on surface deliver stable electrostatic state in waterborne systems and greatly shorten grinding time.
2. Good blackness and blue undertone; formed film presents no yellow/brown base with uniform surface appearance.
3. Tolerant to minor pH fluctuations of waterborne formulas and delivers stable water resistance of finished coatings.
4. Efficient UV absorption slows gloss loss and chalking of outdoor waterborne coatings.
5. Stable color development can be achieved with low dosage of dispersant to reduce auxiliary material cost of formulas.
Main Application Scenarios
Core applications: OEM waterborne automotive paint, waterborne automotive refinish paint, high-end waterborne plastic topcoat
Compatible applications: Waterborne black color paste, waterborne PU / acrylic topcoat, polar solvent high-grade baking paint
Not recommended: Low-cost general plastic masterbatch, weak non-polar solvent systems, articles for food contact
Usage Notes
1. Heavy dust during feeding; dust removal and anti-static devices shall be equipped at feeding stations.
2. More likely to raise system viscosity compared with ordinary carbon black; reserve adjustment space in formulas.
3. Store hermetically in cool & dry warehouse; caking caused by moisture will reduce dispersion efficiency.
4. Anionic polymeric dispersants are preferred for waterborne systems.
5. Standard addition dosage for coatings: 1.2%~3.5%, adjust according to hiding power demand.
