VINNOL® E22/48A is a hydroxyl-containing vinyl chloride / hydroxy acrylate / dicarboxylate terpolymer resin from Wacker (Germany), CAS No. 114653-42-8. Its molecular chain contains approx. 1.8 wt% free hydroxyl groups, so it can be used as a reactive resin or co-binder in two-component systems, crosslinking and curing with isocyanates, epoxy, amino resins and similar curing agents. It is used mainly as a film-forming binder for surface coatings and printing inks.

Core advantages

· The molecular chain contains approx. 1.8 wt% free hydroxyl groups and can be crosslinked with isocyanates, epoxy and amino resins, helping to improve film adhesion, chemical resistance and solvent resistance

· Good adhesion to many plastic substrates as well as metals and wood, helping to reduce insufficient substrate adhesion

· Films are hard yet flexible, abrasion- and weather-resistant, with good resistance to oils, greases, dilute acids, dilute alkalis, salt water, aliphatic hydrocarbons and alcohols

· Good compatibility with other VINNOL® surface coating resins, acrylics, ketone resins, epoxy, polyurethane and alkyd resins, which facilitates formulation design

· Can be dissolved alone in ketone and ester solvents with a wide processing window; film softness can be adjusted with plasticizers such as phthalates, adipates and phosphates

Main application areas

· Core applications: two-component coating systems, primers / intermediate coats, baking enamels, printing inks, adhesives, magnetic tape coatings

· Suitable areas: anti-corrosion coatings, coil coatings, marine and protective coatings, plastic coatings, industrial wood coatings, gravure / screen / pad / transfer inks, inkjet inks

· Not recommended: systems used alone for long-term outdoor exposure without UV / heat stabilizers; direct food contact (FDA compliance is not marked in the TDS); long-term high-temperature use together with pigments containing zinc, cadmium or iron oxides, to reduce the risk of resin decomposition and discoloration; alcohols and aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents do not dissolve this product
