Product full name: Wacker VINNOL® H 40/60 vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer resin (commonly known as VC/VAc resin)

VINNOL® H 40/60 is a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate binary copolymer produced by Wacker (Germany) using suspension polymerization, with a vinyl acetate content of approx. 39 wt%. It belongs to the higher-viscosity, more flexible grades of the VINNOL H40 series. It can be used as a binder or copolymer binder for solvent-based coatings, printing inks and adhesives, and can also be dissolved in various acrylic monomers for modifying solvent-free systems.

Core advantages

· High vinyl acetate content gives good film flexibility and can help lower the heat-seal temperature and softening point

· Can be dissolved alone in ester solvents and is also soluble in monomers such as styrene, methyl methacrylate and acrylates, making it convenient as an additive in solvent-free pure-monomer systems

· Compatible with ester-soluble nitrocellulose in a 50/50 ratio range, which helps modify NC systems

· Fully compatible with other VINNOL® series resins; viscosity, flexibility and heat-seal performance can be adjusted by blending

· Films offer good abrasion resistance, water resistance, oil resistance and resistance to dilute acids and alkalis, salt water and brine

Main application areas

· Core applications: solvent-based printing inks, paper and film coatings, strippable protective lacquers, heat-sealable coatings, wood varnishes, architectural mortar paints, road-marking paints

· Suitable areas: copolymer binder for flexible ink formulations, solubilization in weak-solvent (ester / glycol ester / glycol ether) systems, adhesion and pigment-wetting modification for solvent-free pure-monomer UV / monomer systems

· Not recommended: direct blending with alkyd resins, polyvinyl acetal or polyvinyl butyral (generally incompatible); avoid pigments containing zinc, cadmium and iron oxides (they may catalyze decomposition of VC copolymers at high temperature); avoid direct contact with iron containers to prevent discoloration; long-term outdoor use requires separate blending with weathering stabilizers
