Full Name & Product Positioning
Full Product Name: Kuraray POVAL™ PVA-105 Fully Hydrolyzed Polyvinyl Alcohol
PVA-105 is a fully hydrolyzed (98-99 mol%), low-viscosity (5.2-6.0 mPa·s) polyvinyl alcohol in the Kuraray POVAL™ series. Its low degree of polymerization results in low aqueous solution viscosity, allowing preparation of higher-solids aqueous solutions, while the fully hydrolyzed structure retains oil resistance and organic solvent resistance. It is particularly suitable for coatings, emulsifiers, and adhesives requiring high solids and low viscosity, and is also commonly used in emulsion polymerization systems requiring precise viscosity control.

Key Advantages
(Performance based on measured conditions from original manufacturer TDS. Actual results vary with formulations and do not guarantee end-use performance.)
1. Low viscosity grade allows preparation of higher-solids aqueous solutions (up to 20%+), supporting coating and application operational efficiency;
2. Fully hydrolyzed structure provides film oil resistance and organic solvent resistance superior to partially hydrolyzed grades, with strong intermolecular hydrogen bonding;
3. Low degree of polymerization enables relatively fast dissolution, making it a relatively easily soluble grade among fully hydrolyzed PVA products;
4. Can be used as a protective colloid in emulsion polymerization; low viscosity characteristics help control emulsion particle size and system rheology;
5. Suitable for high-solids coatings, adhesives, and emulsified dispersion systems requiring precise viscosity control.
Main Application Areas
Core Applications: High-solids coatings, low-viscosity adhesives, emulsion polymerization protective colloids, emulsifiers
Compatible Applications: Paper surface sizing, inkjet printing media coatings, film surface treatment, adhesives requiring solvent resistance
Not Recommended For: Food or oral-ingestion articles, structural adhesive scenarios requiring high adhesive strength and film toughness (select a higher viscosity grade)
